Ag Teacher Katy Teixeira provided this report from the Shasta Section Contests:

For the Shasta FFA Section, which includes schools as far south as Corning and Los Molinos, and as far north as Yreka and Etna, west to Hayfork and Weaverville and all of the Redding area...

In the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest, students compete in a contest to see which team can complete the Official FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies with the highest accuracy and precision, not only individually, but as a team.

* Our Officer team placed SECOND OVERALL for their division and Senior Mekylah Crow was the Outstanding Reporter. Their average score was 96%.

* Sophomore Kaylee Trimble was chosen as Outstanding Treasurer for the Advanced Division and BOTH Advanced teams did exceptionally well.

* Of more than 15 teams, our two Novice (Freshmen) Teams were TWO of the SIX teams that made it into the final round.

* Freshman Megan Ames was selected Outstanding Novice Secretary and Freshman McKenna Treadway won Outstanding Novice Treasurer

In the Record Book Contest, a contest where students are given a project scenario and have to complete a record book journal, budget and take a short test on general record book knowledge -

* Our team won SECOND PLACE

* Junior Steven Whitmore placed 4th high individually

In the Cooperative Marketing Competition, students study materials about farming cooperatives and learn about the Ag Industry -

* Our team won SECOND PLACE

* Senior Liah Kitchen placed 4th high individually

In the Best Informed Greenhand Competition, a test students take on FFA knowledge -

* Our team placed 5th Overall

* Freshman Brian Hubert was ONE POINT away from being in the top 5

This group of students was exceptional! Our school was recognized in EVERY SINGLE DIVISION! The students were amazing, supporting each other and cheering each other on!

Such a GREAT DAY for Anderson FFA!
